CALDER: THE VISION OF A BABY
There was a time when something changed the way we imagined a child’s room—suddenly filled with colorful objects hanging above the crib or suspended from the ceiling. These lightweight forms, each with its own background, now move with imperceptible currents of air. The static silence of plush toys was replaced by shapes and volumes that dance with the slightest breath.
By that time, Calder had already experimented extensively with his mobiles and with his art as a whole.
Calder is one of those artists who always approached his work as a game—a playful language, universally accessible, even without knowing it is art. A license to dream.
