THE SKY TAKES SHAPE IN ANTWERP
If you arrive on foot at Pier 63 of the port along the canal, the water is only a perception because a wall prevents your vision. Once in the port area, following the different curves of the road, an unusual volume appears floating on the low roofs of some warehouses.
The architect Zaha Hadid had a galactic perception of architecture.
The extension of the old firehouse, now a port, does not belong to our world because it looks like an intergalactic ship during a brief stop, ready to go and with the grace of something that is not affected by the laws of gravity. A huge object more than 100m long, made of pieces of sky modelled in triangles and with surfaces that refuse to be completely smooth. It is anchored in the old building that lends itself as a dock, a space shuttle or the bridge between the old and the future.
